Measurement of natural variation of neurotransmitter tissue content in red harvester ant brains

This study quantifies the tissue content of four biogenic amines in the brains of red harvester ants from different colonies, linking foraging behavior to neurotransmitter signaling. Using capillary electrophoresis coupled with fast-scan cyclic voltammetry, the research reveals significant variation in neurotransmitter levels among colonies in a natural environment.
